Alberto Cirio (born 6 December 1972) is an Italian politician andMember of the European Parliament (MEP) fromItaly from 2014 to 2019. He is a member of the centre-rightForza Italia.

Biography

Cirio studiedlaw at theUniversity of Turin. Cirio served asDeputy Mayor ofAlba from 1995 to 2005. In2005 he was electedRegional Councilor of Piedmont. In2010 Cirio was re-elected to the Regional Council. Regional Minister for Education, Tourism and Sport in the Piedmont Region from 2010 to 2014.[1]

In the2014 European Parliament election in Piedmont, Cirio was elected to theEuropean Parliament for theNorth-West region.[2] On 26 May 2019 he was electedPresident of Piedmont, supported by Forza Italia, the Northern League,Brothers of Italy andUnion of the Centre.[3][4]

On 8 March 2020, Cirio tested positive forCOVID-19.[5]
