Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (formerlyAlbany College of Pharmacy) is a private, independent college with a campus in Albany, New York. ACPHS is home to approximately 900 students and 115 full-and-part time faculty.[1]
On June 12, 1881, Albany College of Pharmacy wasfounded as the nation's 14th pharmacy program.[2] Dr. E.N. Potter, thenPresident of Union College as well asUnion University approved the formation of the College at Union University's annual board meeting.[3]
In April 2025, it was announced that Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences would merge withRussell Sage College in a gradual process that is planned to be completed by Fall 2027.[4]
The ACPHS Campus is located at 106 New Scotland Avenue in theUniversity Heights section of Albany, a higher education and health care cluster that includesAlbany Law School,Albany Medical College, and Russell Sage College's Albany campus, as well asAlbany Medical Center,St. Peter's Hospital, and the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center.

ACPHS had a campus in Colchester, Vermont located at 261 Mountain View Drive that shut down in June 2021 due to declining enrollment.[5][6] The Vermont Campus offered the professional pharmacy program and a two-year master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The ACPHS athletic teams are called the Panthers. The college is a member of theUnited States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), primarily competing in theYankee Small College Conference (YSCC) since the 2020–21 academic year. The Panthers previously competed as a founding member of theHudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) from 2004–05 to 2018–19; as well as an USCAA Independent during the 2019–20 school year. ACPHS competes in eight intercollegiate varsity sports (all on the Albany Campus): Sports include basketball, cross country, soccer, track & field, while club sports include golf, hockey, lacrosse and tennis.
The women's basketball team won the school's only national championship in 2013 when it defeated Berkeley College 60–54 to win the USCAA Division II National Championship. The ACPHS track and field was renovated in 2012 at a cost of $2.5 million.[7]
