Alastair Duncan is a Scottish actor andreal estate broker. He is best known for his roles as a voice actor in video games, most notably as Senator Armstrong inMetal Gear Rising: Revengeance,Mimir inGod of War (2018) andits sequel, as well asCelebrimbor fromMiddle-earth: Shadow of Mordor andits sequel.

Early life

Duncan was born inEdinburgh, Scotland. His father is named Archibald Alexander Macbeth Duncan. Following his family's naming tradition, his name would have been Alastair David Macbeth Duncan, but his father decided to simply give him the legal name Alastair Duncan.[1]

Career

Duncan's breakout role (then credited as "Neil Duncan") was as Peter Livingstone, side-kick toMark McManus's Taggart in Scottish television'seponymous detective series.[1]

Leaving the show after the first two series, Duncan then appeared in the 1988 television adaptation ofThe Hound of the Baskervilles, starringJeremy Brett asSherlock Holmes.[citation needed]

Duncan's next key role was in the 1992 science fiction filmSplit Second. He continued with guest roles on television series, such asBabylon 5,All-American Girl, andThe Marshal. He also appeared in television films, such asTrick of the Eye andTower of Terror.[2]

Since the early 2000s, he has been doing voiceover work, including films such asBatman Unlimited: Animal Instincts and video games such asWarlords Battlecry,Legacy of Kain: Defiance,X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse,Tomb Raider: Legend,Tomb Raider: Anniversary,Final Fantasy XIV,Mass Effect,Infinity Blade II,Infinity Blade III,Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance andMiddle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, as well as animated television series:Alfred Pennyworth inThe Batman andAdrian Toomes inMarvel's Spider-Man.[citation needed]

His most notable television guest appearances include episodes ofTracey Takes On...,Buffy the Vampire Slayer,Charmed,Angel andLeverage.

Duncan was one of 400 actors considered for the lead role in the international hit seriesHighlander: The Series but lost out toAdrian Paul. He later guest-starred in the fifth season's episode "Dramatic License" as immortal Terence Coventry.[citation needed]

In 2011, Duncan appeared in David Fincher'sThe Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Duncan has also provided his voice forHow to Train Your Dragon 2 and acted in theHBO seriesWestworld.[2] He has also voiced and performed motion capture for theNorse godMimir in 2018'sGod of War, its sequelGod of War Ragnarök[3][4] and for the role of "President" inDeath Stranding 2: On The Beach.

Personal life

In 1994, after beginning to find regular work as an actor, Duncan relocated from the United Kingdom toLos Angeles. According to one interview, he happened to move two weeks before theNorthridge earthquake.[1]

Duncan was married to actressAnna Gunn, but the couple divorced in 2009.[5][6] Together they have two daughters.[7]
