Alas-Kluet,Alas, orBatak Alas is anAustronesian language ofSumatra. The three dialects, Alas, Kluet, and Singkil (Kade-Kade), may not constitute a single language; Alas may be closer toKaro, and the others closer toDairi. Bylinguistic affiliation, Alas–Kluet belongs to theBatak subgroup. Ethnically, however, its speakers generally do not identify asBatak, mostly because of their religion.[2]
