Alan Valentine Tishman (October 12, 1917 – January 13, 2004) was an Americanreal estate developer and head ofTishman Management and Leasing Corporation.
Born to aJewish family,[1][2] Tishman helped bring coop apartment ownership toNew York City and was one of the first brokers to bring office tenants toPark Avenue.[3]
His political activism landed him on themaster list of Nixon political opponents.[2][4] He was a trustee of theAmerican Museum of Natural History and served as vice president of theUJA Federation.[4]
He was married to Margaret Westheimer Tishman who died in 2004. They had two daughters: Pat Tishman Hall and Virginia "Nina" Tishman Alexander; and one son, David Tishman.[5] His daughter Nina died in 1999.[6] Tishman died on January 13, 2004; services were held atTemple Shaaray Tefila in Manhattan.[1]
