Alan Agustín Matturro Romero (born 11 October 2004) is a Uruguayan professionalfootballer who plays as acentre-back forLa Liga clubLevante, on loan fromSerie A clubGenoa.[2]
Matturro was born on 11 October 2004 in the capital city ofMontevideo to a family ofItalian descent. His ancestorsimmigrated fromBalvano inPotenza, a province of theBasilicata region, thus holds anItalian passport. In July 2021, Matturro's mother, Silvana (née Romero), died of complications fromSARS-CoV-2 amidst theCOVID-19 pandemic.[3]
Matturro is a youth academy graduate ofDefensor Sporting. He joined the club at the age of 12 as a centre-forward.[4]
On 21 December 2022, Matturro joined Italian clubGenoa.[5]
On 9 July 2025, Matturro joinedLa Liga sideLevante on a season-long loan deal.[6]
Matturro is a former Uruguayan youth international.[7] He has represented Uruguay at2019 South American U-15 Championship.[8] He was also part of theUruguayan side that won the2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup inArgentina.[9][10] In the tournament, he received the Silver Ball award as the second-best player behind onlyCesare Casadei.[11]
On 4 March 2024, Matturro received his first call-up to represent theUruguay national team underMarcelo Bielsa for matchdays 13 and 14 againstArgentina andBolivia for the2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.[12]
