Alain Cavalier (French:[kavalje]; born 14 September 1931) is a French film director.
Cavalier was born inVendôme,Loir-et-Cher and studied film at theInstitut des hautes études cinématographiques. He won several awards, including theCésar Award for Best Film andCésar Award for Best Director for his filmThérèse in 1987. His filmPater premiered In Competition at the2011 Cannes Film Festival.[1][2]
He was married to the French film actress and formerMiss France winnerIrène Tunc.[3]
