Alaemon is a genus ofbirds in the familyAlaudidae, commonly called hoopoe larks.
The nameAlaemon comes from theGreekalēmōn, meaning "wanderer" (fromalaomai, meaning "to wander").[2] The genus was established byAlexander Keyserling andJohann Heinrich Blasius in 1840.[3]
