Alan Burton Goldstone (April 9, 1928 – October 22, 2019) was an Americancomposer,conductor,consultant,producer,production manager andscreenwriter.
Burton was born inColumbus, Ohio. He graduated fromNorthwestern University, when he earned his degree, in 1948.[1]
Burton started his career in 1949, as producing and writing the varietyCampus to Campus.[2]
From the 1950s to the 1970s, Burton produced television programs and films, including,The Oscar Levant Show,[3]Hollywood a Go-Go[4] andMalibu U,[5] among others.[6]
From the 1970s to the 1980s, Burton started working with screenwriter,Norman Lear on hissoap opera television series,Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.[7][8] He also was a composer, conductor and consultant forDiff'rent Strokes (and its spin-offThe Facts of Life) andHello, Larry.[7]
From the 1980s to 2019, Burton worked onCharles in Charge, as the executive producer. Later in his career, he worked onFamily Guy,The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,The Goldbergs,Saturday Night Live andBrooklyn Nine-Nine.[9]
Burton died on October 22, 2019, ofnatural causes at his home inSan Mateo, California, at the age of 91.[10][1][11]
