Al-Hadher (Arabic:الحاضر; transliteration:al-Ḥāḍir) is a village in northernSyria, administratively part of theMount Simeon District of theAleppo Governorate. According to theSyria Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), al-Hadher had a population of 8,550 in the 2004 census.[1]
It is 4 kilometers east of the ancient town ofQinnasrin (Chalcis ad Belum).[2] It was founded by theArab tribe ofTanukh as aḥāḍir (a settlement of sedentarizedBedouin) in the 4th century underByzantine rule.[3] Al-Hadher served as the headquarters ofJund Qinnasrin, (military district of Qinnasrin).[2]
On 8 August 2012, theFree Syrian Army captured al-Hadher.[4]
