Airam López Cabrera (born 21 October 1987), known simply asAiram, is a Spanish professionalfootballer who plays as astriker forSegunda Federación clubSan Fernando.
After being top scorer in the lower divisions forTenerife B, he represented five teams in theSegunda División, totalling 16 goals in 106 games. He also played professionally in Poland, Cyprus and India, appearing in the former country'sEkstraklasa forKorona Kielce,Cracovia andWisła Płock.
Born inPuerto de la Cruz,Canary Islands, Airam was formed at localCD Tenerife, and made his debut on loan atCD Laguna de Tenerife before playing forhis parent club's reserves. In2008–09, he wasTercera División's top scorer (Canarian group) with 23 goals,[1] bettering that total by four to be crowned the overallPichichi ofSegunda División B thefollowing season, although his team was relegated.[2]
The latter season's tally included four in a 5–1 home win againstRSD Alcalá on 20 September 2009,[3] and ahat-trick ofpenalty kicks the following 10 January in a 4–1 rout of neighboursUD Vecindario.[4]
On 22 April 2010, Airam signed a two-year deal atVillarreal CF, with an option of a third.[5] He was assigned tothe B side in theSegunda División, and made his professional debut on 27 August when he started in a 3–0 loss atReal Valladolid.[6] Eight days later he scored his first goal for the team, the sole one in their home win overAlbacete Balompié.[7] On 25 September, after coming on as an 83rd-minutesubstitute forNatxo Insa, he netted twice in a 3–2 away victory overGirona FC.[8]
On 31 January 2012, Airam terminated his Villarreal contract with minutes remaining of thetransfer window, and joinedCórdoba CF in the same league for the remainder ofthe season.[9] In his brief spell inAndalusia, he scored a brace in a 3–1 home win againstSD Huesca on 10 March[10] and helped the side to thepromotion play-offs; he said at the end of his contract that he would have liked to remain at theEstadio Nuevo Arcángel.[11]
Airam remained in the second division subsequently, signing a one-year deal atCD Numancia with the option of a second on 31 July 2012.[12] He started only two league games for the team fromSoria, without scoring, and left by mutual consent the following 10 January.[13] Later that day, he joinedCD Lugo still in the second level for the rest ofthe campaign.[14]
On 30 March 2013, Airam scored his only goals for theGalicians, a hat-trick in a 4–0 home defeat ofXerez CD.[15]
On 30 July 2013, Airam returned to division three for the first time in three years, agreeing to a three-year deal atCádiz CF.[16] His 23 goals in 32 games over hisfirst season helped the club to theplay-offs, and his 12 in 33 inthe ensuing campaign helped them win their group.[17]
On 2 June 2015, it was reported that Airam's first club Tenerife were interested in reacquiring his services.[18] However, this scheme collapsed the following month,[19] and as Cádiz also failed to gain promotion, he instead moved abroad for the first time by signing a one-year deal at Poland'sKorona Kielce.[20]
Airam made his top flight debut on 11 September 2015, starting in a goalless draw atLechia Gdańsk, and scored his firstEkstraklasa goal on 16 October, a penalty to win the game againstŚląsk Wrocław.[21] He netted his first hat-trick in Poland on 20 February 2016, in a 4–2 victory over Gdańsk at theStadion Miejski Kielce;[22] despite the team finishing in thebottom half of the table, his tally of 16 goals was bettered only byNemanja Nikolić of championsLegia Warsaw.[23]
Airam switched countries again on 10 August 2016, signing forAnorthosis Famagusta FC of theCypriot First Division and teaming up with several compatriots including managerAntonio Puche.[24] He made his debut on 11 September, replacingEsmaël Gonçalves after 59 minutes of the away fixture againstAris Limassol FC and scoring the 2–1 winner.[25]
Airam returned to Spain's third tier on 8 July 2017, when he signed forExtremadura UD.[26] In hisfirst season, the teamwon an unprecedented promotion to the second division.[27]
In August 2018, Airam went back to Poland's top flight when he was loaned toKS Cracovia.[28]
Airam joinedWisła Płock of the same country and league on 17 October 2020.[29] On 13 August 2021, he moved toIndian Super League clubFC Goa on a one-year contract.[30][31] He scored half of his goals for the latter the following 6 March, a hat-trick in the 4–4 home draw withKerala Blasters FC.[32]
In summer 2022, aged 34, Airam returned to his homeland by joiningAtlético Sanluqueño CF ofSegunda Federación on a one-year deal, with a one-year option.[33] He totalled ten goals in hisdebut campaign to achieve promotion.[34]
On 17 July 2024, Airam signed withSan Fernando in the fourth tier.[35]
