Compagnie Aérienne Corse Méditerranée S.A.E.M. (Corsican:Cumpagnia Aerea Corsa Mediterrania),trading asAir Corsica (formerlyCCM Airlines), is theflag carrier of theFrenchinsular region ofCorsica, with its head office on the grounds ofAjaccio Napoléon Bonaparte Airport inAjaccio,Corsica.[1] It operates passenger services from Corsica to continental France. Its main base is Ajaccio Napoleon Bonaparte Airport, with hubs atFigari–Sud Corse Airport,Bastia – Poretta Airport andCalvi – Sainte-Catherine Airport.[2][3]
The company was founded on January 1, 1989, by Pierre Philippe Ceccaldi to improve flight connections to Corsica. Its first flight took place in June 1990 under the name Compagnie Corse Méditerranée, later becoming CCM Airlines, and eventually adopting the name Air Corsica.[4][5]
In October 2010, it changed its name to Air Corsica.[4]
In December 2019, with the arrival of its firstAirbus A320neo, Air Corsica became the first French operator of the A320neo.[6]
Air Corsica operates certain flights as a franchise forAir France andITA Airways.[7] Air Corsica outsources itspassenger service system, which manages reservations, inventory and pricing toAmadeus using the Altéa system.
