Air Canada Jetz is a Canadiancharter airline headquartered inMontreal and a wholly ownedsubsidiary ofAir Canada.[3] Established and starting operations on October 31, 2001, it operates a premium business service forcorporate clients andprofessional sports teams.[4] The airline was originally headed by Robert Perrault, former president ofAir Alliance.

Sports teams

Jetz is the official carrier for all seven Canadian teams and one U.S. team of theNational Hockey League (NHL). It has assumed this role for theVancouver Canucks,Calgary Flames,Edmonton Oilers,Ottawa Senators,Montreal Canadiens andToronto Maple Leafs since its inception, with theWinnipeg Jets added for the 2011–12 season. Since its inception into the NHL in 2021, theSeattle Kraken have chosen Jetz as its official carrier. Jetz has also been the carrier for several US-based NHL franchises, including theBoston Bruins for the 2008 season, theAnaheim Ducks for the 2009–10 season, theLos Angeles Kings for the 2011–12 season, and theWashington Capitals for the 2010–11 season.

On March 31, 2014, the Ottawa Citizen reported that Air Canada "has made a decision to exit this segment of the market."[5][6] However, service has not been terminated, and on March 17, 2015, the company announced a 6-year contract with several NHL teams starting from the 2015–16 season.[7]

TheDallas Stars began using Air Canada Jetz starting with the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Since the2023–24 NHL season, theBuffalo Sabres andColorado Avalanche have also used Air Canada Jetz.[citation needed]

Others

In 2005–2006, Jetz carriedU2 on theirVertigo Tour, and again in 2009 on theirU2 360 Tour. Jetz also carriedThe Rolling Stones on their North American tour until the band felt the Jetz Aircraft was not large enough and transferred to a Boeing 747-400. Jetz has carried many other high-profiled rock bands (Bruce Springsteen,Phil Collins,The Spice Girls) and business executives.[8]

During the2004,2006 and2008 federal elections,NDP LeaderJack Layton's tour was carried by Jetz.[9]

During theCOVID-19 pandemic, all of Jetz began operating commercial flights from Toronto to Montreal and Ottawa starting on June 1.[10]

During the2021 federal election, bothLiberal Party of Canada leaderJustin Trudeau andConservative Party of Canada leaderErin O'Toole's campaign tours chartered Air Canada Jetz aircraft.[11]

As of September 2023, Air Canada Jetz operates fourAirbus A320 aircraft (two of which are in an all-black livery) configured with 70 business class seats.[2][12][13]
