Ailton dos Santos Silva (born 31 October 1966) is a Brazilianfootballcoach, who is the current head coach ofMixto.
Born inSão Paulo, Silva began his managerial career at São Paulo Futebol Center, aSão Paulo youth system based inOsasco, in 1996. In 2005, he joinedPalmeiras, also taking care of the club's youth setup.
Silva leftVerdão in 2007, and moved to SpanishTercera División sideCF Atlético Ciudad, being appointed as a sports director. He returned to his homeland in the following year, being namedSanto André's assistant manager.[1]
After being in the staff ofSão Bento,Desportivo Brasil andPortuguesa, Silva was appointedRiver Plate-SE manager on 1 February 2011.[2] He led the latter to their secondCampeonato Sergipano title of its history, and also managed the side in bothSérie D andCopa do Brasil.
Silva moved toSão Caetano in the following year, as an assistant manager. In November, he was appointed as caretaker, replacing firedÉmerson Leão.[3]
Silva was relieved from his duties on 5 February 2013,[4] but returned toAzulão on 13 March.[5] He was sacked again on the 28th,[6] and moved toMogi Mirim on 16 May.[7]
Silva was sacked on 27 February 2014,[8] and was appointedFerroviária manager on 1 August.[9] He was relieved from his duties on 2 October,[10] and signed for Portuguesa on 15 December.[11]
On 6 April 2015 Silva was dismissed, withLusa being almost relegated.[12] On 1 June he returned to Mogi Mirim, replacing firedEdinho.[13] He subsequently worked atJuventus,Itabaiana,Campinense,Confiança andJuazeirense.
In October 2019, Silva was appointedChiangrai United manager, and led the club to their first-everThai League 1 accolade.[14][15] The following July, he switched teams and countries again, taking overHồ Chí Minh City in Vietnam.[16]
