Italian homebuilt aircraft
TheAerolab LoCamp is an Italianamateur-built aircraft, designed and originally produced byAerolab SRL ofGallarate. The aircraft is supplied as a kit for amateur construction, although the company plans to alsocertify the aircraft toJAR-VLA as well as produce alight-sport aircraft category version.[1][2][3]
The LoCamp design is now produced by one of Aerolab's original dealers,Golden Age Aeroworks, LLC ofRichland Center, Wisconsin,United States.[4]
Design and development
[edit]The LoCamp is intended to resemble a 1930s style light aircraft. It features a cantileverlow-wing, a two-seats-in-tandem open cockpit withpolycarbonate windscreens, fixedconventional landing gear and a single engine intractor configuration.[1][2][5]
The aircraftfuselage is made from welded steel tubing, with the wing built from wood or optionallyaluminium sheet and its flying surfaces covered indopedaircraft fabric. Its 9.10 m (29.9 ft) span wing employs aNACA 4416airfoil, has an area of 13.5 m2 (145 sq ft) and mountsflaps. The standard engine available is the 110 hp (82 kW)Rotec R2800four-strokeradial engine, although the 65 hp (48 kW)Walter Mikron MIIIC was under evaluation by the manufacturer.[1][2][5]
In 2015 the manufacturer was considering producing a fully assembledspecial light-sport aircraft version.[2]
