Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL) is an Indian defencepublic sector undertaking, headquartered inKanpur,India.[1] AWE primarily manufacturessmall arms andartillery guns for theIndian Armed Forces, foreign militaries, and domestic civilian use.

History

AWEIL was established in 2021 as part of the restructuring and corporatisation of theOrdnance Factory Board,[2] which was divided into seven differentPublic Sector Undertakings.[3][4][5]

Ordnance Factories Institute of Learning Ishapore

OFIL Ishapore is the training institute under the Advance Weapon & Equipments India Ltd., aGovernment of India enterprise underministry of Defence. The institute is engaged in imparting and upgrading technical, and managerial skills. The institute was established in 1920 underLt. Col. L. De Lenfestey, then Superintendent of the Rifle Factory, Ishapore, duringBritish rule. It has held a prominent position within the Ordnance Factories and the industry, known for the quality of its training and the success of its alumni, many of whom have attained high positions in government and the corporate sector.

OFIL Ishapore received the prestigious Golden Peacock National Training Award from theInstitute of Directors in 1997 and 2005, and was the runner-up in 2002.[citation needed]
