Adriano Ferreira Martins (born 21 January 1982), or simplyAdriano, is a Brazilian former professionalfootballer who played as astriker.
Born in São Paulo (SP), Adriano started his career atItararé-SP in 2002, after having played for the youth team's ofSanta Cruz andOsasco-SP.[1] In the following year he was signed byADAP, and was later loaned out toTreze (2003),Botafogo-PB (2004) andArapongas (2005, where he began to gain prominence to be one of the top scorers of the Segunda Divisão Paranaense with 11 goals.[1]
In June 2011, Adriano leftGamba Osaka and joined Qatari clubEl Jaish, signing a three-year contract with the club.[2] In his first season with El Jaish, Adriano finished as the top scorer in theQatar Stars League with 18 goals in 20 games.[3]
Adriano expressed interest in playing for theQatar national team, however he would have to wait until 2014 to be naturalized.[4]
In June 2018, Adriano joinedBarra da Tijuca.[5] However, a serious injury prevented him from playing any games for the club. He was then without club until December 2019, where he joinedPortuguesa da Ilha.[6]
