Muhammad Adib bin Abdul Ra'op (born 25 October 1999) is a Malaysian professionalfootballer who plays as aleft-back forMalaysia Super League clubPenang and theMalaysia national team.[2][3]
Adib made his debut withPerak II in the2020 Malaysia Premier League againstKelantan United on 1 March 2020. He played 76 minutes in that match.[4] He scored his first goal in a 2–1 defeat againstSelangor II on 14 March 2020.[5] Adib received his first player of the match award in a 2–2 draw againstSarawak United on 29 August 2020.[6] He received his second player of the match award in a 5–1 win againstKuching City where he contributed 2 goals.[7]
In September 2020, Adib was promoted to the senior team ofPerak. He made his debut in a 1–0 win againstUiTM coming in as substitutes in the 73rd minutes.[8] Overall he made 5 appearances as substitutes in his debut season with the first team.[9] The following season, Adib made a total of 18 league appearances and 6 Malaysia Cup appearances where he scored 1 goal in a 2–2 draw against Kuching City.[10][11]
Adib left at the end of the season due to internal problems that occur in Perak.[12]Penang announced him as their new player on 17 December 2021.[13]
On 23 May 2024, Adib received his first national call up for2026 FIFA World Cup qualification and2027 AFC Asian Cup qualification.[14] He made his debut on 6 June 2024 in the2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier againstKyrgyzstan at theDolen Omurzakov Stadium. He substitutedStuart Wilkin in the 83rd minute as the game ended in a 1–1 draw.[15]
On 11 June 2024 in the match againstChinese Taipei at theBukit Jalil National Stadium, he came on as a substitute forAkhyar Rashid in the 74th minute and scored his first international goal in stoppage time which gave Malaysia a 3–1 victory.
