Adi Shankaracharya is a1983Indian film inSanskrit language directed byG. V. Iyer. The film depicts the life and times of the Hindu philosopher,Adi Shankaracharya, who consolidated the doctrine ofAdvaita Vedanta (nondualism) inHindu philosophy. This movie is a prime example of experimental movie era ofKannada film industry. It was the first film in India to be made inSanskrit.[1] At the31st National Film Awards, it won four awards, includingBest Film,Best Screenplay,Best Cinematography andBest Audiography.[2][3]
