Adhiar (Bengali:আধিয়ার; also known by the English titleThe Battle of Sharecroppers) is a 2003 Bangladeshiperiod drama film directed bySaidul Anam Tutul (in his directorial debut) from a story written byGiasuddin Selim.[2][3] It starsRaisul Islam Asad,Pijush Bandyopadhyay,Champa andLitu Anam in lead roles. The film is set inBengal during theTebhaga movement of the late 1940s.[1]
Adhiar was made with financial support from the government.[4] It premiered in a competition at theBangladesh National Museum in Dhaka on 25 September 2003.[1]
At the 5thMeril-Prothom Alo Awards,Adhiar won theCritics Choice Award for Best Film and Tutul received theCritics Choice Award for Best Film Director.[5] The25th Bachsas Awards earned Tutul six awards: Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Art Direction, Best Editing, and Best Cameraman.[6]
At the28th Bangladesh National Film Awards, Selim won theAward for Best Story,[3] and Maksudul Bari received theAward for Best Cinematography.[7]
