Adel Khamis (born November 11, 1965)[1] is a retiredQatarifootballer who played as a defender.[2] He is the first Qatari footballer to play abroad.[3]
Khamis started his career in the youth teams of Al Gharafa in 1979.[3] He eventually progressed to the senior squad in 1983, when the team was in theQatari Second Division. He made his debut for theQatar national team in 1984 under coachEvaristo de Macedo, when he was just 18 years old. He was the first Qatari footballer to play abroad, appearing for Kuwait'sQadsia from 1997 to 1998.[3][4] He retired from international football in 2000 following a farewell match againstSudan.[5]
