Addamax was an Americansoftware company that developedTrusted operating systems based onUNIX System V andBerkeley Software Distribution (BSD) variants ofUNIX.[1] The company was founded on January 13, 1986 inChampaign, Illinois by Peter A. Alsberg[2] and had a sales and development office inGaithersburg, Maryland.
Addamax filed a high-profileantitrust lawsuit in 1991 against theOpen Software Foundation (OSF), alleging that OSF created acartel that controlled the UNIX operating system and exertedmonopsony price fixing and led to the company going out of business.[3][4]
The company was dissolved on June 1, 1999.[2]
