Adam Demos (born 24 May 1985)[2][3] is an Australian actor. He is best known for his roles as August Walker on the American television seriesUnREAL (2018) and Brad in theNetflix seriesSex/Life (2021–2023).[4][5]
Adam Demos was born inWollongong, New South Wales, Australia. His father is of Greek descent.[6] He attended Tarrawanna Public School and graduated fromDapto High School in 2003.[6][7] He is the cousin of Australian basketball playerTyson Demos.[8]
Although Demos was interested in acting at an early age, he first worked as a construction laborer in his father's demolition business, the Wollongong steelworks, a roofing company, and in Bondi's Hotel Ravesis.[9][7] He enrolled in an acting class atScreenwise Film & TV Acting School inSydney when he was 23, but was worried his friends would mock him so kept it a secret.[10][11][9] His mother encouraged him to pursue acting.[12]
In 2012, Demos played the role of'Solo Man' in the iconic advertising for the Australian soft drink brand.[13][9]
Demos previously played small roles in Australia. In 2017, Demos was cast to play Nate Baldwin in theABC Australia dramaJanet King. On set, Demos found out about a role in Hollywood explicitly written for an Australian actor. He was cast and flew toVancouver to start filming the third season ofLifetime'sUnREAL.[12][8] Demos stated that it was a confusing experience filmingUnREAL, his first international production, as it was a TV show within a TV show.[14]
In 2019, Demos starred oppositeChristina Milian inNetflix'sFalling Inn Love which was shot inNew Zealand.[11]
In 2020, Demos filmed the Netflix seriesSex/Life, inspired by the book44 Chapters About 4 Men by BB Easton,[15] inToronto, Canada.[16] Demos was cast in the show with the help ofStacy Rukeyser, whom he had worked with onUnREAL and was the showrunner forSex/Life. To prepare for the scene where he sings "Heartbeats", Demos took singing and guitar lessons.[17][18] His full-frontal nude scene in episode 3 of the series went viral on social media platforms.[19][20][21]
In May 2022,A Perfect Pairing was released on Netflix, starringVictoria Justice alongside Demos. The film tells the story of an American wine company executive who travels to Australia to land a major client and ends up sparking a connection with a man she meets on a sheep farm.[22]
In 2021, Demos revealed that he was dating American actressSarah Shahi, his co-star on the Netflix showSex/Life.[23][24][25]
His interests includecryotherapy, after first trying it inLos Angeles,[26] and travelling.[7]
