Adam Clune (born 8 June 1995) is a professionalrugby leaguefootballer who plays as ascrum-half forHuddersfield Giants in theSuper League.
He previously played for theSt. George Illawarra Dragons andNewcastle Knights in theNational Rugby League (NRL).
Clune played his junior rugby league for theJunee Diesels,Albion Park-Oak Flats Eagles[2] andWestern Suburbs Red Devils.
Clune made his debut in round 4 of the2020 NRL season forSt. George Illawarra against theCanterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.[3]
He played 15 games for the club in his debut season as they finished 13th on the table and missed out on the finals.[4]
Clune scored his first NRL try in round 1 of the2021 NRL season against local rivalsCronulla-Sutherland.[5]
In August, he signed a two-year contract with theNewcastle Knights starting in 2022.[6]
Clune played a total of 10 matches forSt. George Illawarra in the2021 NRL season as the club finished 11th on the table and missed out on the finals.[7]
Clune played a total of 18 matches for Newcastle in the2022 NRL season as the club finished 14th on the table and missed the finals.[8]
In 2023, after spending most of the year in theNSW Cup, Clune was called into the Knights NRL team for the last three weeks of the season, replacingJackson Hastings due to injury. Clune played in the Knights' 10–40 loss toNew Zealand Warriors in week two of the finals.[9] He parted ways with the club at the end of the 2023 season.[10]
On 26 October, it was reported that he had joined theHuddersfield Giants for 2024 on a three-year contract.[11]
Clune played 26 games for Huddersfield in the 2024 Super League season as the club had a difficult campaign finishing 9th on the table, despite this clune had 8 assists and 4 tries to record his most consistent season to date.[12]
