Adalbert Ivanov Zafirov (Bulgarian:Адалберт Иванов Зафиров; born 29 September 1969) is a Bulgarian formerfootballcentre-back who most recently managedCSKA 1948.
Zafirov who was born inSofia played in his home town forLokomotiv andCSKA. In Germany he signed contracts withArminia Bielefeld andUnion Berlin.
He has been capped for theBulgaria national team, and was an unused substitute at the1998 FIFA World Cup.
On 30 March 2010,CSKA Sofia coachIoan Andone resigned, it was announced that the team will be trained by Adalbert Zafirov until the end of the season.[1]
Zafirov was appointed as head coach ofCherno More Varna in late September 2012, following the resignation ofStefan Genov.[2] However, he was released from his duties in mid December 2012, despite winning his last game in charge of the team - 1–0 againstLevski Sofia in the second leg of aBulgarian Cup match.
In late December 2014, Zafirov became the manager ofB PFG clubBotev Vratsa,[3] but resigned on 27 April 2015.[4] He had a short managerial stint withCSKA 1948 between early[5] and late August 2016.[6]
