Actinemys is a smallgenus ofturtles in thefamilyEmydidae.[1] The genus isendemic to the west coast ofNorth America. The genus contains two species.

Nota bene: Abinomial authority in parentheses indicates that the species was originally described in a genus other thanActinemys.
Both species are sometimes included in the genusEmys (sensu lato).[2]Actinemys pallida, the southwestern pond turtle, has been a recent split fromActinemys marmorata, of which it was previously considered asubspecies.
