TheAce Lake is a 9 metres (30 ft) deepsalt water lake on theIngrid-Christensen coast of thePrincess Elisabeth land in East Antarctica. The lake is located on theLangnes peninsula in theVestfold Hills near theOrganic Lake.

Australian biologists atDavis Station explored the lake in 1974 after searching for a saltwater lake withcopepods for nine months. The researchers interpreted their discovery asace, which gave the lake its name. Between 2004 and 2005 amountain hut was built on the shores of the lake.

In 2013, Zhou et al. discovered a newvirophage species bymetagenomical analysis, theAce-Lake-Mavirus (ALM), similar to a short time ago inOrganic Lake (OLV) and also inYellowstone Lake (YSLV). ALM belongs to the virophage genusMavirus; as a virophage, it is asatellite virus that (as aparasite), when co-infected with ahelper virus (host), impairs its ability to replicate. ALV presumably parasitizes species of theMimiviridae virus family.[1]
