Abu Yusaf (bornc. 1987) is a high-level security commander in theIslamic State.[1] According to an interview conducted withThe Washington Post, Abu Yusaf is anom-de-guerre of a 27-year-oldEuropeanIslamist who joined IS in 2013.[2]
According to The Washington Post, Abu Yusaf would be born onapproximately 1987 somewhere inEurope,[2] it is currently unknown what European country Yusaf was born in. It is unknown if Yusaf was born into aMuslim family or if he converted toIslam in later years of his life.
In 2013, Yusaf would travel toSyria and join theIslamic State,[2] within about a year, Yusaf would already be considered a "high-level security commander" of the Islamic State.[1] In 2014, Yusaf would be interviewed in a moving white Honda by The Washington Post inReyhanlı,Turkey.[2]
