Abu Danladi (born October 18, 1995) is a Ghanaianfootballer who plays as aforward.
Abu Danladi graduated from Ghana'sRight to Dream Academy. He attendedDunn High School inLos Olivos, California. He played college soccer with theUCLA Bruins.[2] Danladi received theGatorade Player of the Year award in 2013–14 while playing for Dunn School.[3][4]
On January 4, 2017, Danladi signed aGeneration Adidas contract withMajor League Soccer.[5] On January 13, Danladi was selected by theexpansionMinnesota United with the first overall selection of the2017 MLS SuperDraft.[6]He scored his first career MLS goal on May 7, 2017, at home versusSporting Kansas City.[7] He was the runner-up for the 2017 MLS Rookie of the Year Award, behindJulian Gressel.
On November 19, 2019, Danladi was selected by MLS expansion sideNashville SC in the2019 MLS Expansion Draft.[8] Following the 2021 season Danladi's contract expired with Nashville and he became a free agent.[9]
Following his release from Nashville, Danladi returned toMinnesota United on 13 January 2022, signing a one-year deal.[10] After the 2022 season, his contract option was declined by Minnesota.[11]'
Danladi signed withUSL Championship clubNew Mexico United on January 10, 2024.[12]
