Aaron Mark Hardie (born 7 January 1999) is an Australian internationalcricketer who represents the Australia national cricket team inODI andT20I cricket. A right-handedall-rounder who bowls right-armmedium-fast, domestically he plays forWestern Australia at the state level, and thePerth Scorchers in theBig Bash League.[1]

Early life

Hardie was born in England, but grew up inPerth, Australia.[2]

Domestic career

In January 2018, he was added to Australia's squad for the2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup,[3] but was later ruled out of the tournament due to injury.[4] In November 2018, he played for theCricket Australia XI team in a four-day matchagainst India at theSydney Cricket Ground. During the match, he took the wicket of India's captainVirat Kohli, finishing with figures of four wickets for 50 runs in the first innings, and scored 86 runs while batting.[2][5] Hardie described the experience as being "a bit surreal".[6]

He made hisTwenty20 debut for thePerth Scorchers in the2018–19 Big Bash League season on 9 January 2019.[7] He bowled one over, conceding thirteen runs, and did not bat, with the Perth Scorchers winning by six wickets.[8] He made hisfirst-class debut forWestern Australia in the2018–19 Sheffield Shield season on 20 March 2019.[9] He made hisList A debut on 23 October 2019, for Western Australia in the2019–20 Marsh One-Day Cup.[10] In March 2020, in round nine of the2019–20 Sheffield Shield season, Hardie scored his maiden century in first-class cricket.[11] In April 2022, in the final of the2021–22 Sheffield Shield season, Hardie scored 174not out,[12] with Western Australia going on to win the tournament.[13]

In June 2022, Hardie was signed bySurrey to play in theT20 Blast andCounty Championship in England.[14]

International career

In August 2023 Hardie was called up to theAustralia squad for the T20Iseries againstSouth Africa.[15] He was also called up to the squad for the ODIseries against South Africa.[16] On 30 August 2023 Hardie made hisT20I debut for Australia against South Africa in the first match of the three match T20I series.[17] On 9 September 2023 Hardie made hisODI debut for Australia against South Africa in the second match of the five match series.[18]
