Based on a book byJohn Feinstein entitledA Season on the Brink which detailed the turbulent1985–86 season ofIndiana University'smen's basketballteam, led by coachBobby Knight, the film became the firstESPN television film, premiering on March 10, 2002.
The production was filmed inWinnipeg, Manitoba,Canada. The premiere of the movie was simulcast onESPN with the unexpurgated version andESPN2 with all profanities censored.[1] Future airings were of the uncensored version. The movie was also released onDVD in late 2002.
