ASKAP J173608.2−321635 is an unidentifiedastronomical radio source that sends "radio signals ... from the direction of the Centregalaxy". It is nicknamed "Andy's Object" after its discoverer, Ziteng (Andy) Wang, from theUniversity of Sydney inAustralia.[1][2] The object was detected using theAustralian Square Kilometer Array Pathfinder andMeerKATradio telescopes. It is not visible to "the most powerful non-radio telescopes" and was detected six times between 2020 January and 2020 September.[3] This may be a new class of object because no counterpart has been detected at multiple wavelengths, which "rules outflaring stars, binary systems,NSs,GRBs, orsupernovae as its source". The radio emissions exhibit a high level ofpolarization, suggesting scattering as a result of ablack hole.[4]
