ABC-type organic anion transporter ABCA8 is aprotein that inhumans is encoded by theABCA8gene.[5]

Themembrane-associated protein encoded by this gene is a member of the superfamily of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. ABC proteins transport various molecules acrossextra- andintracellular membranes. This protein is a member of theABCA subfamily. Members of the ABCA subfamily comprise the only major ABC subfamily found exclusively inmulticellulareukaryotes.[5]
