The A661 begins inWest Yorkshire at the South Wetherby roundabout (adjacent to The Mercure Hotel) where it intersects with theA58 (St Helens toWetherby viaLeeds,Bradford andHalifax) and slip roads to gain access to junctions of theA1(M).
The A661 finishes at the Empress roundabout in Harrogate, where it intersects with the A6040 towards the town centre, andA59, towardsKnaresborough andYork in one direction andSkipton in the other.[1]
