Lieutenant GeneralAjay Kumar Singh,PVSM,AVSM,SM,VSM is the former[1]Lieutenant Governor ofAndaman and Nicobar Islands.[2] He is an alumnus ofSainik School Rewa andNational Defence Academy. He is former General Officer Commanding-in-Chief ofSouthern Command ofIndian Army.[3]
Singh was named 11th Lieutenant Governor ofAndaman and Nicobar Islands in July 2013 and took office on 8 July 2013.[4] He was given additional responsibility of the administration ofPuducherry from July 2014 to May 2016.
Singh is known for his contributions towards Andaman Society by starting Andaman's first medical College, ANIIMS[5] and second degree college of South Andaman, ANCOL.[6]
Singh left the Andaman and Nicobar Islands[7] after handing over charges on 19 August 2016.
A.K. Singh was appointed as independent director to Air Works.[8]
