The8th AVN Awards ceremony, organized byAdult Video News (AVN) took place on January 12, 1991, at theTropicana Hotel & Casino inParadise, Nevada.[2] During the ceremony, AVN Awards were presented in 60 categories honoringpornographic films released the previous year in the United States. The ceremony was videotaped for later pay-per-view broadcast. ActorTom Byron hosted with seven co-hosts throughout the show.[1][3]
House of Dreams won seven awards, the most of any feature, including Best Film.[3] Other winners includedBeauty and the Beast, Part 2 with five awards, while gay movieMore Of A Man took four. Three movies took three awards:The Last X-Rated Movie,The Masseuse andPretty Peaches 3, whileButtman’s Ultimate Workout andThe Rise each won two trophies.[4]
The winners were announced during the awards ceremony on January 12, 1991.[2] Besides being named Best Film,House of Dreams also won Best Director—Film forAndrew Blake and the Best Sex Scene in a Film Award.[1][4]

Inside X-Rated Video called the awards show “marvelous” and more tranquil than theConsumer Electronics Show, which many adult entertainment companies had booths at.[5]
^1 TheAVN Awards Show Official Program saysBi and Beyond V was the nominee in the Best Director—Bisexual Video category.[2] However,AVN magazine, in listing the show's award winners, hadBi and Beyond IV as the winner.[4] There is no record of which is the typographical error. Both movies were released in 1990, so either could be correct.
