The75th annual Berlin International Film Festival, usually called theBerlinale, took place between 13 and 23 February 2025 inBerlin, Germany. American filmmakerTodd Haynes was named the Jury President for the main competition.[1] It marked the first edition ofTricia Tuttle as the festival's artistic director afterCarlo Chatrian and Mariette Rissenbeek stepped down after the 2024 edition.[2]
Dreams (Sex Love) directed byDag Johan Haugerud won theGolden Bear. TheSilver Bear Grand Jury Prize was awarded toThe Blue Trail byGabriel Mascaro. While theSilver Bear for Best Leading Performance was awarded toRose Byrne forIf I Had Legs I'd Kick You.[3]
The festival opened with German drama filmThe Light byTom Tykwer.[4] During the opening ceremony, British actressTilda Swinton was awarded theHonorary Golden Bear.[5]
