The64th annualVenice International Film Festival, was held from 29 August to 8 September 2007, atVenice Lido inItaly.
Chinese filmmakerZhang Yimou was the jury president for the main competition. Italian actressAmbra Angiolini was the Host of the opening and closing ceremonies. TheGolden Lion was awarded toLust, Caution byAng Lee, marking his second win afterBrokeback Mountain (2005).
American filmmakerTim Burton received theGolden Lion for Lifetime Achievement during the festival.
Once again all the films running the contest were shown for the first time as world premieres in keeping with the festival tradition since theSecond World War.[1][2][3]
The festival opened withAtonement byJoe Wright, and the closed withBlood Brothers by Alexi Tan.
