SIMBADdata

51 Aurigae is a single[8]star in the northernconstellation ofAuriga. It is visible to the naked eye as a dim, orange-hued star with anapparent visual magnitude of about 5.70.[2] Based onparallax, it is located some 464 light-years (142 parsecs) away from theSun.[1] It is receding from the Earth with a heliocentricradial velocity of 32 km/s.[4]

At 2.2 billion years old,[7] 51 Aurigae has evolved off from themain sequence and is now aK-typegiant star.[2] It is 1.58 times as massive as the Sun,[6] 24.5 times as wide, and 178 times as luminous.[1] It emits radiation from itsphotosphere with aneffective temperature of about 4,277K.[6]
