The46th British Academy Film Awards, more commonly known as theBAFTAs, took place on 21 March 1993 at theTheatre Royal, Drury Lane inLondon, honouring the best national and foreign films of1992. Presented by theBritish Academy of Film and Television Arts, accolades were handed out for the best feature-length film and documentaries of any nationality that were screened at British cinemas in 1992.
James Ivory'sHowards End won the awards forBest Film and Best Actress (Emma Thompson).Robert Downey Jr. was voted Best Actor for his role inChaplin. Best Supporting Actor and Actress wereGene Hackman (Unforgiven) andMiranda Richardson (Damage).Robert Altman won the award for Best Director for directingThe Player.[1]
