4-Methoxyestradiol (4-ME2) is anendogenous,naturally occurringmethoxylatedcatechol estrogen andmetabolite ofestradiol that is formed bycatechol O-methyltransferase via theintermediate4-hydroxyestradiol.[1][2][3] It hasestrogenic activity similarly toestrone and4-hydroxyestrone.[4]
