4-Fluorodeprenyl, orp-F-deprenyl, also known asfludeprenyl or asN-methyl-N-propargyl-4-fluoroamphetamine, is astimulant andmonoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) of theamphetamine family.[1][2][3][4] It is the 4-fluoroderivative ofdeprenyl and theracemic form of4-fluoroselegiline.[3][4][2] The drug ismetabolized into the stimulants4-fluoroamphetamine (4-FA) and4-fluoromethamphetamine (4-FMA) and hence acts in part as aprodrug of thesemetabolites.[3][4][1][2] Accordingly, it producesmethamphetamine-like effects indrug discrimination tests insquirrel monkeys.[1][2] Like deprenyl andselegiline (L-deprenyl), 4-fluorodeprenyl is additionally aselective andirreversibleinhibitor ofmonoamine oxidase B (MAO-B).[4] The drug was encountered as a noveldesigner drug inGermany in 2019.[4]
