4,5-MDO-DMT, or4,5-methylenedioxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine, is a lesser-knownpsychedelic drug of thetryptamine family.[1] It is the 4,5-methylenedioxyderivative ofdimethyltryptamine (DMT) and is ananalogue ofpsilocin (4-HO-DMT) and5-MeO-DMT.[1] The drug was included as an entry inAlexander Shulgin's 1997 bookTiHKAL (Tryptamines I Have Known and Loved), but it was not tested to determine itspsychoactive effects and its dose andduration are unknown.[1] Studies in rodents found that its potentialhallucinogenicpotency is less than that of4,5-MDO-DiPT but greater than that of5,6-MDO-DiPT.[2] Itschemical synthesis has been described.[1] 4,5-MDO-DMT was first described in thescientific literature by Toni B. Kline and colleagues in 1982.[2]
