The2026 Pennsylvania elections will be held in thestate ofPennsylvania on November 3, 2026, alongside thenationwide midterm elections. Elections will be held forgovernor as well as all 17 of the state'sU.S. House of Representatives seats, half of the seats in theState Senate, and all seats in theState House.Primary elections will be held on May 19, 2026.[1]

Pennsylvania has been a crucialswing state in recent years.Donald Trump became the first Republican since1988 to win Pennsylvania on the presidential level in2016, and won it again in2024.Democrats currently have a one seat majority in theHouse of Representatives, andRepublicans have a two seat majority in theState Senate.[2][3] The state'sU.S. Senate delegation is split between Republicans and Democrats, following the ousting ofBob Casey Jr. in2024. Democrats currently control thegovernorship.

Democrats suffered statewide losses in2024, losing control ofone of Pennsylvania's U.S. Senate seats,the Attorney General's office, and all other statewide offices up for election.[4] Republicansgained a majority in the state's U.S. House delegation, unseating Democratic representativesMatt Cartwright andSusan Wild.[5] Donald Trump won Pennsylvania overKamala Harris after previously voting forJoe Biden in2020.[6]

United States House of Representatives

All of Pennsylvania's 17 seats in theUnited States House of Representatives are up for election in 2026.

10 seats are currently held byRepublicans, and 7 are currently held byDemocrats.[7]

Governor

Incumbent Democratic governorJosh Shapiro was first elected in2022 with 56.5% of the vote.[8] He is eligible to run for re-election to a second term in office and in January 2026 announced he would do so.[1]

Incumbentstate treasurerStacy Garrity[9] is running for the Republican nomination with, as of yet, no primary opposition after securing the endorsement of Donald Trump.[10][9] State senatorDoug Mastriano, who was the Republican nominee for governor in 2022, also considered a second run for governor, but ultimately declined.[3][11]

State Senate

25 of the 50 in thePennsylvania State Senate are up for election in 2026. Republicans have held control of the chamber since 1994.[12]

Republicans currently hold 27 seats in the State Senate, and Democrats hold 23.[12]

State House of Representatives

All 203 seats in thePennsylvania House of Representatives are up for election in 2026. Democrats flipped control of the chamber in2022 for the first time since2010 and retained control in2024 with a one seat majority.[2]

Democrats currently control 102 seats in the State House, and Republicans control 101.[2]
