The2026 United States state treasurer elections will be held on November 3, 2026, to elect thestate treasurer and equivalents in twenty-six states. The previous elections for this group of states took place in2022. The treasurer of Vermont serves two-year terms and was last elected in2024.

These elections will be held concurrently with several otherfederal, state, and local elections.

Partisan composition

Going into the election, there are 26 Republican and 16 Democratic state treasurers and equivalents. This class of treasurers is made of 16 Republicans and 10 Democrats.

Democrats are defending one state won byDonald Trump in2024 (Nevada), while Republicans do not hold any states won byKamala Harris.

Alabama

State TreasurerYoung Boozer was elected in2022 with 83.7% of the vote, without major party opposition. He is running for re-election.[1]

Arizona

State TreasurerKimberly Yee was re-elected in2022 with 55.7% of the vote. She is term-limited and cannot seek re-election. Businessman Elijah Norton is running in the Republican primary for the position.[31] Businessman Nick Mansour is running in the Democratic primary for the position.[32]

Arkansas

State TreasurerJohn Thurston was elected inthe 2024 special election with 65.4% of the vote. He is running for election to a full term.[5]

California

State TreasurerFiona Ma was re-elected in2022 with 58.8% of the vote. She is term-limited and cannot seek re-election. Democrat formerOakland mayorLibby Schaaf is running for the position. Other potential Democratic candidate include former state senatorSusan Eggman, formerSpeaker of the California State AssemblyAnthony Rendon, and former assemblymanPhil Ting.[33][34]

Colorado

State TreasurerDave Young was re-elected in2022 with 53.7% of the vote. He is term-limited and cannot seek re-election.

Colorado State RepresentativeBrianna Titone announced on February 26, 2025, that she would run in the Democratic Primary.[10] Also announced in the Democratic Primary are state senatorJeff Bridges,[9]Jefferson County Treasurer Jerry DiTullio, and former chair of theEl Paso County Democratic Party John Mikos.[10]

Fremont County commissionerKevin Grantham is running for the Republican nomination.[11]

Connecticut

State TreasurerErick Russell was elected in2022 with 52.4% of the vote. He is eligible to run for re-election but has not yet stated if he will do so.

Delaware

State TreasurerColleen Davis was re-elected in2022 with 53.6% of the vote. She is eligible to run for re-election but has not yet stated if she will do so.

Florida

Chief Financial OfficerJimmy Patronis was re-elected in2022 with 59.5% of the vote. He was term-limited and could not seek re-election when on November 25, 2024, Patronis announced his resignation as CFO effective March 31, 2025, to run in aspecial election forFlorida's 1st congressional district thatMatt Gaetz represented prior to his November 2024 resignation.[35] On July 21, 2025 GovernorRon DeSantis appointed state senatorBlaise Ingoglia to the position. Ingoglia is running for election to a full term.[13]

Idaho

State TreasurerJulie Ellsworth was elected in2022 with 71.1% of the vote. She is eligible to run for re-election but has not yet stated if she will do so.

Illinois

State TreasurerMike Frerichs was elected in2022 with 54.3% of the vote. He is eligible to run for re-election but has not yet stated if he will do so. If he declines to run, Chicago city councilorTimmy Knudsen is considered a potential candidate for treasurer.[36]

Indiana

State TreasurerDaniel Elliott was elected in2022 with 60.9% of the vote. He is running for re-election to a second term.[16]

Iowa

State TreasurerRoby Smith was elected in2022 with 51.3% of the vote. He is eligible to run for re-election but has not yet stated if he will do so.

Kansas

State TreasurerSteven Johnson was elected in2022 with 54% of the vote. He is running for re-election to a second term.[17]

Massachusetts

Treasurer and Receiver-GeneralDeb Goldberg was re-elected in2022 with 76.5% of the vote. She is running for re-election.[18]

Nebraska

State TreasurerJohn Murante was re-elected in2022 with 72.2% of the vote. He is term-limited and cannot seek re-election.

Nevada

State TreasurerZach Conine was re-elected in2022 with 47.7% of the vote. He is term-limited and cannot seek re-election.

New Mexico

State TreasurerLaura Montoya was elected in2022 with 53.2% of the vote. She is eligible to run for re-election but has not yet stated if she will do so.

Ohio

State TreasurerRobert Sprague was re-elected in2022 with 58.6% of the vote. He is term-limited and cannot seek re-election. Former state senatorNiraj AntaniRepublican, former state representativeJay Edwards, state senator Kristina Roegner, andLake County treasurer Michael Zuren are running for the Republican nomination.[21][22][23][24]

Oklahoma

State TreasurerTodd Russ was elected in2022 with 64.8% of the vote. He is running for re-election.[25]

Rhode Island

General TreasurerJames Diossa was elected in2022 with 54.3% of the vote. He is eligible to run for re-election but has not yet stated if he will do so.

South Carolina

State TreasurerCurtis Loftis was re-elected in2022 with 79.7% of the vote. He said that he would not run for re-election in April 2024,[37] but announced in April 2025 that he would run for another term in 2026.[26]

South Dakota

State TreasurerJosh Haeder was re-elected in2022 with 67% of the vote. He is term-limited and cannot seek re-election. Former state legislatorJeff Monroe has announced his candidacy.[27]

Texas

Texas Comptroller of Public AccountsGlenn Hegar (the office serves as the state treasurer) was re-elected in2022 with 56.4% of the vote. On March 7, 2025, Hegar was selected by theTexas A&M University System as the lone finalist for Chancellor.[38] Hegar left office on July 1, 2025, with GovernorGreg Abbott appointingKelly Hancock as his replacement to serve the remainder of his term.[39] Hancock is running to hold the position, as well asChristi Craddick andDon Huffines.[40][29]

Vermont

State TreasurerMike Pieciak was re-elected in2024 with 60.8% of the vote. He is eligible to run for re-election but has not yet stated if he will do so.

Wisconsin

State TreasurerJohn Leiber was elected in2022 with 49.6% of the vote. He is running for re-election to a second term in office. Orlando Owens, who ran for the seat as a Republican in 2022, has filed to run for the seat again.[41]

Wyoming

State TreasurerCurt Meier was re-elected unopposed in 2022. He is eligible to run for re-election but has not yet stated if he will do so.
