The2026 Florida elections will be held in thestate ofFlorida on November 3, 2026, alongside thenationwide midterm elections . Elections will be held for aU.S. Senate seat andgovernor as well as all 28 of the state'sU.S. House of Representatives seats, most statewide offices, all 120 seats in theFlorida House of Representatives , and 20 of 40 seats in theFlorida Senate .Primary elections will be held on August 18, 2026.[ 1]
A formerswing state , Florida has trended significantly towards theRepublican Party since 2020.[ 2] [ 3] [ 4] Donald Trump held on to Florida in2020 after previously flipping it in2016 , making gains primarily amongstCuban voters.[ 5] [ 6] In2022 , Republicans swept the state, winning every statewide office for the first time sinceReconstruction .[ 7] Donald Trump defeatedKamala Harris in the state by 13.1% in2024 , flipping traditionally DemocraticMiami-Dade County , which includes the city ofMiami .[ 8] [ 9]
United States Senate [ edit ] Aspecial election will be held to elect a member of theUnited States Senate for the remainder ofMarco Rubio 's term, who resigned in January 2025 following his appointment as theUnited States Secretary of State .[ 10] Florida Attorney GeneralAshley Moody was appointed to the seat by GovernorRon DeSantis following Rubio's resignation and was sworn in on January 21, 2025.[ 11]
Moody is running to fill the remainder of the term.[ 12] She is being challenged in the Republican primary by podcaster andJanuary 6th rioter Jake Lang.[ 13]
Former United States representativeAlan Grayson has filed paperwork to run for the Democratic primary.[ 14] MayorJerry Demings , U.S. representativeJared Moskowitz , state representativeAngie Nixon , and whistleblowerAlexander Vindman have expressed interest in running for the Democratic primary.[ 15] [ 16] [ 17] [ 18]
United States House of Representatives [ edit ] All of Florida's 28 seats in theUnited States House of Representatives are up for election in 2026. Members of the United States House of Representatives serve two year terms.[ 19]
Following the2024 elections, Republicans control 20 seats, and Democrats control 8.[ 20] TheFlorida Legislature is considering redistricting the state's congressional map for 2026, which would be expected to favor Republicans.[ 21] [ 22] [ 23]
Incumbent Republican governorRon DeSantis , who was re-elected with 59.4% of the vote in2022 , is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term in office.[ 24]
Surfside mayor Charles Burkett, United States representativeByron Donalds , and former Florida House speakerPaul Renner are running for the Republican nomination.[ 25] [ 26] [ 27] Lieutenant GovernorJay Collins is publicly considering a run for the Republican nomination.[ 28]
Former United States representativeDavid Jolly is running for the Democratic nomination.[ 29] MayorJerry Demings , former United States representativeAl Lawson and state representativeAngie Nixon are considering runs for the Democratic nomination.[ 15] [ 30] [ 17] Jason Pizzo is running as an independent and is endorsed byNo Labels .[ 31] [ 32]
Republican attorney generalAshley Moody , who was re-elected with 60.6% of the vote in2022 , resigned on January 21, 2025, following her appointment to the United States Senate.[ 11] GovernorRon DeSantis appointed Republican Chief of StaffJames Uthmeier to serve the remainder of Moody's term.[ 33] He is running for a full term in 2026.[ 34]
InterimPunta Gorda city attorney Steven Leskovich has filed paperwork to challenge Uthmeier for the Republican nomination.[ 35] Former state senatorJosé Javier Rodríguez , who served as theAssistant Secretary of Labor for Employment and Training during theJoe Biden administration , is running for the Democratic nomination.[ 36]
Chief Financial Officer [ edit ] Republican CFOJimmy Patronis , who was re-elected with 59.5% of the vote in2022 , resigned on March 31, 2025, to run ina special election forFlorida's 1st congressional district .[ 37] GovernorRon DeSantis appointed Republican state senatorBlaise Ingoglia to serve the remainder of Patronis's term.[ 38] He is running for a full term in 2026.[ 39]
Businessman Frank Collige and former state senate candidate Benjamin Horbowy are challenging Ingoglia for the nomination.[ 40] [ 41] Republican National Committee chair and state senatorJoe Gruters initially ran for the Republican nomination, but dropped out of the race in August 2025.[ 42]
Commissioner of Agriculture [ edit ] Incumbent Republican commissionerWilton Simpson was first elected in2022 with 59.3% of the vote. He is eligible to run for a second term in office but has not yet announced if he will do so.[ 43]
20 of 40 seats in theFlorida Senate , specifically even numbered districts, are up for election in 2026.[ 43]
