A general election will be held in theU.S. state ofAlabama on November 3, 2026. Primary elections will take place on May 19, 2026.
Primary elections take place in Alabama when more than one candidate in one of the two major parties files to run for an office. Candidate qualifying for theAlabama Republican Party will officially open on January 5, 2026, and will close on January 23.[ 1]
United States Senate [ edit ] One-term incumbentTommy Tuberville is retiring to run for governor.[ 2]
United States House of Representatives [ edit ] Two-term incumbent governorKay Ivey isterm-limited and cannot seek re-election.[ 3]
Lieutenant governor [ edit ] Two-term incumbent lieutenant governorWill Ainsworth is term-limited and cannot seek re-election.[ 4]
Two-term incumbent attorney generalSteve Marshall is term-limited and cannot seek re-election.[ 5]
One-term incumbent Secretary of StateWes Allen is retiring torun for lieutenant governor .[ 6]
Four-term incumbent treasurerYoung Boozer is running for re-election.[ 7]
One-term incumbent auditorAndrew Sorrell is retiring to run for secretary of state.[ 8]
Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries [ edit ] Two-term incumbent commissionerRick Pate is term-limited and cannot seek re-election.[ 9]
Five of nine seats on theAlabama State Board of Education are up for election.
Public Service Commission [ edit ] Two seats on theAlabama Public Service Commission are up for election.
House of Representatives [ edit ] All 105 seats in theAlabama House of Representatives are up for election.
All 35 seats in theAlabama Senate are up for election.
Three justices are up for election on theSupreme Court of Alabama .
Two justices are up for election on both theAlabama Court of Civil Appeals and theAlabama Court of Criminal Appeals
Any ballot measures need to be approved by theAlabama House of Representatives and theAlabama Senate . One ballot measure currently certified is theAdd to List of Non-Bailable Offenses Amendment . The amendment numbers will be certified closer to the election date.
Local municipal elections will take place on August 25, 2026.
