26 August – The skull of KingToera ofMenabe, who was killed by French colonial soldiers in1897, is returned to Malagasy officials along with the skulls of two of his companions by France, where they had been stored at theNational Museum of Natural History inParis.[5] The skulls arrive in Madagascar on 1 September.[6]
25 September –2025 Malagasy protests: A night-time curfew is imposed inAntananarivo following protests and riots against shortages of water and electricity.[7]
26 September – President Rajoelina dismisses his energy minister amid protests against electricity shortages.[8]
29 September – President Rajoelina dissolves the government amid the protests against water and electricity shortages that resulted in at least 22 deaths.[10][11]
6 October – President Rajoelina appoints generalRuphin Zafisambo as prime minister.[12]
