The2025–26 ABA League Second Division will be the 8th season of theABA Second Division with teams fromBosnia and Herzegovina,Montenegro,North Macedonia,Serbia, andSlovenia participating in it. This will be the first season without teams fromCroatia.
16 clubs will participate in the second division (12 based on the results in the domestic championships and up to 4 via wild card invitation).
Competition format is changed (similar to the European football competition system) in a way that 16 teams are grouped into 4 pots based on current team quality. All teams will share the same standings and will all compete in the same league system.
Each team will play 8 games during the regular season (against 2 teams from each of the four pots). Each team will have 4 home and 4 away games. Teams from the same country will not face each other in the regular season (with exception if there are 4 and more contestants from same country).
The top 8 teams from the regular season advance to the best-of-3 format Playoffs. The team with the better regular season record will hold the home-court advantage.[1]

Cedevita Junior (5th in the Croatian national championship) decided to play in2025-26 FIBA Europe Cup.KK Kvarner (6th in the Croatian national championship) and five other Croatian teams played a qualifying tournament for the2025–26 European North Basketball League.[3]
After discontent fromKK Cibona (because of not getting a wild card for the2025-26 ABA League First Division) and claiming that they won't play in the Second Division,[4] team decided to eventually join it, because of the possibility of losing the ownership part in theABA League JTD.[5][6] However, on October 11, only two days before the first game against TFT Skopje, KK Cibona offiicially left the competition.[7]
OKK Sloboda Tuzla and KK Vojvodina were the first two clubs getting the wild cards.[8]
Since Croatian and many Slovenian clubs refused to play in the league, ABA League board considered giving a wild card (beside Bosnian KK Jahorina[9]) to the MacedonianMKK Kumanovo or Bosnian SKK Student Igokea m:tel (a farm club ofKK Igokea).[10] SKK Student's apply was accepted so Bosnia and Herzegovina is represented by 5 teams, which is the most that any country has had in this competition.
KK Tivat from Montenegro had been initially drawn in the competition, but was replaced before the season's start withKK Primorje 1945 Herceg Novi due to its financial difficulties.[11]
As a substitute for KK Cibona, ABA League board invitedSPD Radnički Kragujevac.[12]
The clubs were divided into four pots, based on the results in the ABA League system and in the domestic championships in the previous season, to determine 8 rounds of regular stage.[2]
The draw set eight different opponents at random for every team, determining which of their matches were at home and which ones away. Each team faced two opponents from each of the four pots, one at home and one away.[13]
