The2024 Tasmanian football season was the 159th season ofAustralian rules football inTasmania.[6][7] Ten senior leagues – all operating under governing bodyAFL Tasmania (AFLT) – held competitions, with the highest-level being theTasmanian State League (TSL).[8][9]

Almost all leagues operated with a single senior division, consisting of a home-and-away season and a finals series, along with lower-gradereserves and junior competitions.[10][11] Two competitions (theNTFA and theSFL) had multiple divisions, but none used apromotion and relegation system.[12][13] Only theNTFA,NWFL and theSFL had women's competitions.[14][15]

TSL

North Launceston won theTSL premiership for the eighth time, defeatingLauderdale by 20 points in the2024 TSL Grand Final.[16] The premiership completed aperfect season for North Launceston, which won all of its matches in 2024.[17]

This was the TSL'sfinal season, with the statewide competition disbanded in preparation for theTasmania Football Club to enter theVictorian Football League (VFL) in 2026.[18][19] TSL clubs joined the NTFA or the SFL for the 2025 season.[20][21]

The2024 CHFA season was the 118th season of theCircular Head Football Association (CHFA).[25]

Redpa won the CHFA premiership for the 13th time and the third year in a row, defeatingIrishtown by 37 points in the grand final.[26]

The2024 DFA season was the 73rd season of theDarwin Football Association (DFA).[30]

Queenstown won the DFA premiership for the fourth time, defeatingSomerset by 13 points in the grand final.[31]

Prior to the start of the season, theNatone Football Club withdrew because of a player shortage.[32] It was the second time in five years that Nantone had entered recess, with the club withdrawing in2019 before resuming in2021.[33][34]

The2024 KIFA season was the 103rd season of theKing Island Football Association (KIFA).[38][39]

Currie won the KIFA premiership for the 43rd time, defeatingGrassy by seven points in the grand final.[40] It was the club's first senior premiership since2018.[41]

The2024 NTFA season was the 29th season of theNorthern Tasmanian Football Association (NTFA) senior men's competition and the 6th season of the senior women's competition.

NWFA

The2024 NWFA season was the 123rd season of theNorth Western Football Association (NWFA).[45]

Prior to the start of the season, theWest Ulverstone Football Club withdrew because of a player shortage.[46][47] The club had been competing in the NWFA since2002.[48][49]

NWFL

The2024 NWFL season was the 38th season of theNorth West Football League (NWFL) senior men's competition and the 7th season of the senior women's competition.

Beginning this season, the reserves competition was renamed to the "NTFL development league".[50][51]

The2024 SFL season was the 29th season of theSouthern Football League (SFL) senior men's competition and the 7th season of the senior women's competition.[62][63]

Following the end of the2023 season, women's Division 3 was disbanded and absorbed into the existing Division 1 and Division 2 competitions.[64][65]

Cygnet won the SFL men's premiership for the sixth time and the second year in a row, defeatingLindisfarne by 54 points in the grand final.[66][67]

After only fielding a standalone team in the SFL reserves competition in2023, theHobart Football Club returned to the senior SFL men's competition this season.[68][69] In November 2024, the SFL executive formally accepted TSL clubsClarence,Glenorchy,Kingborough,Lauderdale andNorth Hobart into the competition for the 2025 season as part of the re-established SFL Premier League.[12][70]
